Final BLOG!!! Due Monday, Dec 10th

So this is it!  The last blog......:(  Y'all have been a WONDERFUL class!  So much fun in such a small amount of time.  You guys are awesome!!!!  So for our last blog, I thought it would be fitting for everyone to share with each other your favorite memory (assignment, activity, person(s), lecture, etc) of this class.  Whether it was a topic that hit home, or a concept/theory that you related to, an activity that resonates in your mind, or something someone said or did in class, let us know and WHY!  Reflection is an important part of learning.

See everyone Monday for the last few movie analysis presentations and extra credit final!

  1. My favorite part of this class was learning about the personality types and love types. I personally found it fun and fascinating. It also helped me figure out why my best friend has a been acting like an ass recently, and that helped me chill out and stop wondering what was wrong with her. So over all I really enjoyed learning about the physiology behind our speech.

  2. I loved the activity where everyone had to create a game of about their own life and answer questions about it. I did beerpong or "Claudio pong" just cause its a game i play very often on the weekends and i hope everyone in the class enjoyed playing it :) A few people actually impressed me by the way they played and answer questions i thought they wouldnt know about me, it was creepy but in a good way. I'm sure everyone in our class enjoyed playing everyones game it kinda bonded us and i feel like much of us will miss this class in the next semesters and years we have of school. We all laughed at the weird questions others had and also people making mistakes on their powerpoint like Ryan always opening up "Dallas" lol that was so much FUN! Im going to miss this class!

  3. My favorite was figuring out our love types, i thought it was very interesting of how compatible some were to others and how they acted around each other. And when we would go around the class and talk about life experiences that have shaped us to be who we are today, and why we are the way we are. I have learned so much from this class, im going to miss everyone and all the fun times.

  4. My favorite subject about this class was learning about the love types and the stages were relationships begin and end. Is interesting to find out that there is a psychological name to explain the way people believe and behave. I liked this class because Dr. Karin made this class fun. I particular enjoyed the time when we studied for the first quiz, it was so much fun.

  5. My favorite day/ event in this class was easily the game day playing Claudio-pong in class was epic cuz that's what I do every weekend, I was glad to see someone else takes my favorite sport as serious as I do. I think it was really cool to see how everyone came up with there own games to show a little different side of them that nobody really knows. Learned a lot about my self and others that day. Very cool assignment that turned out great in my eyes.

  6. I would like to start off saying that this was my favorite class, and I truley enjoyed every aspect of it. The one part that stuck out the most was when we were talking about why relationships fail. I was dating a guy, well he turned out to be a liar but on top of that after the true age of him was unveiled he was 9 years older than me, and what do you know relationships with that much span was doomed for failure. I also loved learning on how men really think, it has stopped "little" arguments from occuring. Especially when theres a football game on, i've learned to stay away until the game it over. Another neat activity I really enjoyed was the board games that we all had to make. It was a lot of fun playing them, it really let everyone get to know one another and guess what kind of person we all really are.=] Hope everyone has a safe break! Happy Holidays!

  8. I really enjoyed this class. I feel like I gained a lot of perspective on certain aspects when communicating with other people. I also learned a lot about myself, interestingly enough. My favorite part of the class was probably playing each person's games and learning new facts about them. I think it is a good way to get to know somebody you see on almost a daily basis but never knew things about. A lot of personalities really came out with the games.

  9. The lesson that resonates with me the most: I am forever and hopelessly engulfed in the Friendzone.

  10. My absolute favorite memory was when we split up and had to adapt the beliefs and customs of different cultures. Our group went over the top with our instructions and made the activity one of the funnest of the year. It was hilarious running around giving people hugs for no reason. Of all the things that happened this year in class, that day will be one of the ones I remember most.

  11. My favorite activity was when we were put into two groups by gender and spent a good chunk of the class figuring out what we thought the other gender looked for most in their partner. It was quite an eye opener and a lot of fun. :) The class was awesome Professor Wilking, don't change anything about it!

  12. The activity that i enjoyed the most was the one where we had to split up into different groups and act according to the assigned personality type you had given to us. I liked that assignment the most because it was really funny seeing everyone's different personality types conflicting with one another, and it gave us all an opportunity to step outside of our comfort zone and really get to know one another. I had an awesome time this semester, you're a great teacher and a even better person..

  13. My favorite memory in this have to be a 2 way tie in between the culture day when we acted in a certain role . That was really funny and the other good memory was the game day ! I had playing Claudio pong and learning about everyone's life . One of my favorite classes for sure . I always loved coming to class .

  14. My favorite memory was when we started the arguing stage. Madisan and I were non stop talking about our problems with her ex and my gf. we even went off campus one time to eat and out of no where we brought up the anger issues and towards the end of our conversation, I said effin class, and we started cracking up! This class has really brought out some emotions in me. I can not get over the "guys think in box form" which is true, I do. and every time I think of something I think "wait let me get into the other box"

  15. my favorite memory would have to be learning about the way a women works and the way a man works. seeing all the different ways the brain works for a girl being so organized and then a guys brain not. but i enjoyed all the activities and projects. the learning methods were great all hands on and you could really understand what exactly we are learning. i will always remember the time that we learned about the reasons for failed marriages. i have learned so much life lessons that i know ill use in life, like take a step back and just relax and breath. this class was deffinitly one of my favorite class of this semester im happy i get to have you again next semester for my business class. :)

  16. My favorite memory was when the class was divided into two groups, Male and Female and, found out the differences between the mans mind and the woman's mind and were able to see the differences in thought selection. I now have a excuse for my selective hearing

  17. One of my favorite days was when we got to act and pretend to have different beliefs and vote for president. My character was a non stop party girl who cared about her appearance and was very touchy. It was really funny seeing peoples reactions and to see what other beliefs they had. Getting everyone in your group to agree was really difficult and it taught us that not everyone has the same views, and we want to be around people who act like us and like similar things and activities. I think the funny party was when the touchy feel people went around and gave each other. I also really loved when we were split up and the girls and guys got to fight about what each other wanted most in a partner. It was a great debate and you really got to hear each other out and see what they really care about. Plus we got to argue, and that was fun.

  18. My favorite classes had to have been when we did that acting exercise when we had to act a certain way and then argue with the class on who should be president. I really did enjoy snapping my fingers in Mickis little face. The other class I enjoyed was the self concept games. I really liked playing everyones game and learning about their lives. It was pretty cool. Overall this class has been really chill. I'm still laughing about how Jacob thinks a&m is better than UT. Silly boy. That milk must be messing with your head. I really did love this class. I wouldn't change a thing about it and I'm definitely going to miss it.

  19. I have to say, I really enjoyed this class all semester. It was good to have a laid back and high energy class when you've got other boring classes to deal with. It really opened my eyes to things that went on unexplained as far as bad relationships go.

One activity I enjoyed was when we were discussing what men and women find attractive to each other with the room split up. It was funny to see how some things attract the opposite sex. Now I know what I gotta live up to! Another was the board games based on out personality and our background. It was a very good way of getting to know one another; like a 5 minute date. Nonetheless an enjoyable class and an awesome instructor!

  20. I obviously really enjoyed your class! You are so great about getting students to do hands on activities that really help with the learning process. I enjoyed when we discussed how men and women are physiologically different. It was also very interesting to learn what attracts the opposite sex. The board game project was also a great way analyze self-concept. This class was so much fun and stress free. You are a great instructor and I am so glad you made me take this class :p I am definitely going to miss eating lunch with my best friend every other day haha :) See you soon and have a very merry Christmas! <3

  22. My favorite memory would have to be the self-concept games we created for class. It was a fun way to interact with the other students, learn some interesting things about everyone, and to see the different ideas they had in creating their game. It was a great semester and a lot was learned, thank you.

  23. Honestly a lot of the class hit home for me. I have always used logical and reason to come to conclusions in my life for a lot of human interaction because there is always motive regardless of how much we as humans deny that to one another. I feel like a lot of what we learned i have encounter before and just being able to fit all the pieces together and learning the terms was very informing and i enjoyed it very much. Granted i have to say it has made me think about situations this year i would have rather not had come to mind, but that is life. I appreciate everything you have taught use this semester Karin and wish a Merry Christmas and if for what ever reason that offends you then happy holidays (even though I am sure it doesn't).

  24. I really enjoyed your class! All aspects were wildly interesting and I think overall will help me in my current romantic relationship as well as professional and social relationships with others. I enjoyed watching the comic video clip on how men think in compartments where as women think globally; it was a hilarious video and made perfect sense. I love love love talking about love so this class was perfect for my romantic side, I enjoyed the interactions I had with my class members being able to play their self concept games, and I enjoyed the interactive lectures you gave us. I will definitely keep in touch with you and some of the friends I made in that class. it was an awesome experience :)

  25. your class was definitely my favorite! i loved coming to class because we always laughed and got into good conversations. you had a way of getting all of us talking and involved. my favorite part of the semester was when we were talking about the way males perceive things while in relationships. it made me understand why guys ignore you when the football game comes on or when they are playing video games. they have a one track mind. ha. your class gave me a great insight on relationships whether it be romantically or socially. i had such a great experience, thank you so much! Merry Christmas!!
